Objectives

Karnataka Biodiversity Board (KBB) is an Autonomous and Statutory Body of the Government of Karnataka, established on 19-06-2003 (vide G.O. No. FEE 125 ENV 2003) at Bangalore under the Ministry of Forest, Ecology and Environment.

 

The State Biodiversity Board is to

  • Advise the State Government, subject to guidelines issued by the Central Government of matters relating to the conservation of biodiversity, sustainable use of its components and equitable sharing of benefits arising out of the utilization of biological resources
  • Regulate by granting of approvals or otherwise requests for commercial utilization or bio survey and bio utilization of any biological resources by Indians
  • Perform such other functions as may be necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act or as may be prescribed by the State Government
